EDUCATION
Jennifer Burleson received her B.A. (cum laude) in political science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 2003 and received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston in May, 2007.
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
While attending law school, Ms. Burleson worked as a law clerk for the 270th District Court, Houston, Harris County, Texas. She also completed legal internships with Lone Star Legal Aid and the Harris County Attorney’s Office. In her internship with the Family Law Section of the Lone Star Legal Aid, Ms. Burleson represented clients in the pro bono Family Law Clinic and developed negotiation and mediation skills. In the Harris County Attorney’s office, Ms. Burleson interned in the Child Protective Services Division and dealt with child abuse/neglect, rehabilitation services, and counseling clients within a strained court system.
Since joining Best & Spruill, Ms. Burleson has distinguished herself by taking on difficult cases and issues and by providing valuable assistance to the two supervising attorneys. Ms. Burleson is developing her own style and practice and is becoming skilled in family law, wills, contracts, and legal research and writing.
MEMBERSHIPS
Ms. Burleson was licensed by the State Bar of Texas in November, 2007 and is a member of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Austin Chapter of the Texas Young Professionals. She is currently applying for admission to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Ms. Burleson is a member of various sections of the local bar association, and participates in numerous seminars both as a presenter and attendee.
